I'm back...
Aug. 3rd, 2003 08:04 pm...and leaving again on the morrow! We pulled into the driveway last night at about 6:00pm. I was more than relieved, as the van broke down en route to North Carolina last week and after having the local body shop fix it (run by a chain-smoker named Buddy), we were none too sure it would survive the trip home. But it did, and I'm thankful. All the time at home I can manage is much appreciated at this point, because I've never had to unpack and repack so quickly! It appears now to have come together nicely, though. My suitcase is sitting in front of my bureau, fully packed. Well, except for the sleeping pad Mom's going to try and squeeze in.
And I think I've remembered to pack everything I meant to. With me, you never know. There were some parts about coming home and leaving straight away again that made matters simpler. For instance, all my toothbrush/toiletry items stayed put. And four of my clean shirts went straight from the duffel bag to the rolling suitcase. ;-)
Anyhow, this has been an experience. As, I'm sure, will be the next week and a half. I'm excited, apprehensive (I've never flown quite so far alone), praying I don't get sick, etc. The usual trip feelings! ;-) But all in all, I can't wait to embark tomorrow. What an adventure!
For those of you who don't know or can't remember, I'll be in the Portland, OR area from tomorrow until the 11th for a friend's wedding. Then from the 11th through the 15th, I'll be staying with my friend Melissa in WA. And on the 15th it's home again...five short days before school begins on the 20th. Although I didn't think I'd say it, school almost looks welcome. There's something nice about routine, even though this semester looks hectic.
Got to go. I'll see some of you tomorrow night! Otherwise, I'll be back on the 15th. Prayers for safe travel are much appreciated. Blessings to you all and have a great couple of weeks!
Post Script: My new icon is a pic taken in NC. :-) We had a wonderful trip!
