Thought I'd type a brief update down here...My presence online has been sparse because the internet connection to my computer is still on the blink. It got fixed for a while but now it's in and out and very unreliable. It's got to be the new router -- we have a cable modem and I have an Airport card (wireless connection). Well, our old router just went out and Dad bought a new one. But this brand doesn't seem to like wireless -- it's supposed to work with my system and all, but it's just ornery. So Dad will probably end up running a wire upstairs so I can have a direct connection. That will be nice; probably faster than I've had it up there before. But it hasn't happened quite yet, so my e-mails especially are getting backed up. Not that they aren't generally backed up... ;-) But I know I owe several of you notes, so I apologize for their lateness! I'll clean out my mailbox when my send/receive button actually works. Sigh. Hopefully soon.
Otherwise, thanks to all who prayed for me or offered suggestions about summer work. God answered your prayers and mine! I was on the verge of calling a day care, but decided to ask my aunt first about babysitting. She jumped at the idea and called her friend across the street. Said friend called me last night to say she was quite interested and would spread the word as well. So it looks like I'm in business. :-) I spent the afternoon with Katie today while her mom ran errands, and am waiting on Mrs. S. to call me back and set up a regular time (probably) for me to watch her boys. The family across the street has a two-year-old girl (or thereabouts); she is adorable and I'm hoping I can enlist her as well.
Mom left yesterday for GA to visit a friend there and help her out as she had surgery today. She'll probably be back by the weekend, but it feels like she's already been gone a while...Being "in charge" of the house makes me realize again how much she does! My usual, more desireable chores are getting done (dishes, cooking) but I can see my despised ones (sweeping) are going be neglected. It's too easy to let the house go because there are no other females around. And quite frankly, guys (at least my guys) don't care or notice whether the house is clean or not. Unless, perhaps, it turns into an outright pigsty. But don't worry; I'll clean up before Mom gets home. ;-)
Okay, time to scoot. I'll write again before too long. Hopefully...
