waaaaaaah!

I just spent over an hour trying to redesign my layout, only to end in failure with both attempts. What I really wanted was to install a custom layout I found on an icon community (featuring a lovely scene from Persuasion, at the ocean). I got it to work -- sort of. Something went wrong because the font was the same color as the background so you couldn't read it. ARG. I know nothing about html coding so I couldn't exactly mess with the works to get it right.

So then I decided to get a nice background to match my new Marianne default icon. I changed my layout to Generator and told it to put one image as the page background and another as the content box background. Did it work? No. For some reason it came up exactly the same (bland default colors) every time I tried to set it differently. ARG again!

Finally I gave up and came back to the Haven setting. The background image worked, but it's not at all smooth as a tiled image and it just looks icky. I'm going to have to replace it. But not now! I can't take any more! *bangs head on keyboard*
