a frightening episode
Sep. 20th, 2005 01:01 amWe have a problem with aggressive flies in our house.
I just chased one around my bedroom, wielding a flip-flop, for about five minutes. The fat creature never landed. He only buzzed in wild circles, dive bombing me and making it very difficult to keep an eye on him. I waved the flip-flop and smacked him mid-air a few times, but he did not respond except to grow even more agitated. I finally succeeded in driving him from the room, then attempted to shut my door. Since we live in a 1930s-era house with wooden doors that swell and shrink with the changing seasons, I was not surprised when my door refused to remain closed. In a burst of inspiration, I grabbed my trash can and barricaded the door. It's still not quite shut, but so far the fly has not made a reappearance.
Nasty thing. I hope it doesn't fly into my mouth while I'm sleeping tonight.
