Here are the symptoms of a new disease, discovered in part by yours truly, but not yet approved by the American Medical Association for general diagnosis.

Clinical Exhaustion is characterized by:

1. Long and short-term memory loss.
2. Reduced cognitive function.
3. Inability to perform everyday tasks.
4. Diminished enjoyment of previously favored activities.
5. Ability to hear things that are not said, and inability to hear things that are.
6. Inability to stop laughing and sore neck from excessive laughing.
7. Reduced rate of motion.
8. Imagining how unlikely items (such as the asphalt floor of a parking lot) might make a good place for a nap.
9. Irrational, spur-of-the-moment decisions.
10. Exacerbation of normally harmless personality traits.

If six (6) or more symptoms are experienced, medical assistance should be immediately sought. Standard treatment includes twelve (12) hours of deep sleep in a quiet, darkened room. Severe cases could require the use of a tranquilizer.

These results are from a series of clinical trials conducted the week of [livejournal.com profile] raysofhope's wedding in Oregon; August 2003. Symptoms listed above were observed and compiled by [livejournal.com profile] chocolate_e, her sister Fairlight, yours truly, and a few others.
