You know, it's funny how many times during each day that I think, "I'll write about this later in LJ." My mind begins to construct sentences and paragraphs. But rarely, rarely do they linger until the late nights when I do finally find myself here, seated at the computer with a blank screen in front of me.
Perhaps it's just as well. Some things I contemplate sharing would not be wholly entertaining or edifying for a wider audience than myself. As an incident brought to mind earlier today, I have a very strange sense of humor. Or at least, I find the oddest things amusing and find myself stifling smiles and laughter when something at school or elsewhere reminds me of an inside joke I have with my family or perhaps a friend who lives across the country. The very realization that if someone were to ask me why I'm smiling, I couldn't give an intelligent answer -- this knowledge, for some reason, only increases my amusement.
Yes, I am strange. And yes, I am tired. And no, I'm not making much sense.
Before I leave you to peruse the more intelligible sections of your friends' lists, however, I'd like to join in the general trend of thankfulness begun by
asourceofjoy. Lending my sleepy brain to the topic, the uppermost blessing I am grateful for just now is very simple, and rather all-encompassing. I am thankful, beyond thankful, for Who my God is. His nature -- His "unfailing love," to quote this song. His grace, and the knowledge that that grace will cover me even when uncertain situations loom ahead. That I am His family, that He has purchased me and that I am His, and consequently, He is mine.
You have my heart
And I am Yours forever
You are my strength
God of grace and power
And everything
You hold in Your hand
Still, You make time for me
I can't understand
Praise You, God of earth and sky
How beautiful is Your unfailing love
Unfailing love
And You never change, God
You remain the Holy One
And my unfailing love
Unfailing love

Date: 2004-11-12 10:23 pm (UTC)And I understand about the sense of humour. Things remind me of things/people and, like you said, no one else would probably get anything out of it but myself :)
